Delia Popa is a visual artist who works primarily with performance, video installation and text. She has a Master in Fine Art degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2007), and a postgraduate diploma from Goldsmiths College, University of London (2005). She has been working with children since 1996. Her works have been shown extensively in Romania, Europe and the United States.

Her perspective on education and pedagogy are very much influenced by her activity as an artist. It is important for her to convince the public and the school system of the advantages of including art related activities in the school curriculum. This serves the purpose, not of producing more professional artists, but to supporting the development of very important life skills in pupils, such as: critical thinking, creativity and self-confidence, via art.

These views have determined Delia to found ArtCrowd in 2012, together with set designer Vanda Maria Sturdza and to becoming involved in many art and art education projects. In 2014 she defended her thesis on Arts Management in Contemporary Art in Romania at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu. Delia is also an alumn of the German Goethe Kolleg in Bucharest and teaches in German as well.

Recent works include the video installation „Matonge-Tervuren“ die in der Gruppenaustellungen “Dispositions in Time and Space” (2014-2015) and the drawing narratives ”The Facebook Project” (2011-2013) part of ”Good Girls: Memory, Desire, Power” exhibition at The National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest. (2013). Her experimental theater-installation, ”We, Our Friends and Us”, produced by ”Salonul de Proiecte”, was shown part of a two women show at at MNAC Anexa in 2013.
